Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Auburn University in 1996 and his Masters of Science in Management Information Systems with a concentration in Accounting from Georgia College and State University in 2002.  He obtained his CPA license from the state of Georgia in 2004. He is an Authorized IRS E-file Provider and a current member of the American Institute of CPAs and Georgia Society of CPAs.  He is also a board member and treasurer of Covenant Community Development Resource Center Inc and treasurer and finance committee chair of Georgia College & State University's Alumni Board of Directors, both IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.  He is currently a member of 2010 Leadership Macon class and a member of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.

 

Michael's past work experience includes working 4 years for a CPA preparing individual and Sub S corporate tax returns, payroll tax returns, property tax returns, sales tax returns, Forms W-2, 1099, and related informational statements, and compiling financial statements.  Michael also worked 2 years for SunTrust Banks, Inc. holding the position of Senior Payroll Tax Accountant.  In this position, Michael's duties included ensuring that all payroll tax returns were timely filed by SunTrust's payroll tax vendor, ADP Tax Services, preparing manual payroll tax returns when necessary, researching payroll and payroll tax compliance related issues, and determining when amended returns were necessary.  Most recently, Michael worked for IKON Office Solutions, Inc. holding the position of Payoll Tax Analyst with the primarily responsibilities of ensuring all federal, state, and local payroll tax returns were filed and assisting in approving annual employee wage and tax files for submission of employee W2s.  

 

Michael founded Rising Star Consulting Services in 2003 to assist individuals in achieving their God given visions and dreams through self-employment.  He has come to realize that there is a tremendous need for his services as many people do not act upon their dreams and visions because they don't know where to start or they don't know anyone that they feel that they can trust.  By working closely with current and prospective small business owners, Michael knows that he is fulfilling the vision that God has given him by assiting them in fulfilling theirs.
